Fund raiser -Nichole Drury’s story
Nichole sponsored the showing of the film “I, Daniel Blake” at Uckfield Picture House on 20 March to raise money for the Uckfield food bank and for disabled people against cuts (DPAC). Tickets were offered at donation only (they donated whatever they could afford) to our clients.
Nichole previously spoke at the House of Commons in front of MPs to describe how her Mum was sanctioned or ‘disallowed’ ESA payments because she could not attend her work capability assessment and died after 7 months of receiving no payments. Nichole showed the film in her name.
One of our trustees, Ian Noble gave a brief introductory talk about the foodbank.
The tickets sold out and a total of £650 was raised and £325 was donated to the foodbank, plus a further £60 cash donations. On behalf of our Trustees, volunteers and clients at the foodbank, a huge thank you to Nichole for this initiative.
